The Asian Welfare and Cultural Association (AWCA) organizes the annual Eastleigh Mela in the UK town of Eastleigh. This festival celebrates South Asian culture, including music, food, and art and has become a significant cultural event that attracts thousands of visitors each year. Scheduled for Sunday, July 23rd, at Leigh Road Recreation Ground, the Eastleigh Mela 2023 is expected to draw over 20,000 people from across the UK, making it one of the biggest outdoor festivals in the region. Attendees can expect a wide range of entertainment, including live music, dance performances, food stalls, and funfair rides for children.

The AWCA has been organizing the Eastleigh Mela for over 15 years, and their expertise in event management ensures a smooth and enjoyable experience for all attendees. The festival celebrates the rich cultural heritage of countries such as India, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and China and aims to bring people from different backgrounds together to share in the celebration.

Don’t take our word for it . . . 88% of participants rated the tournament experience as excellent, while 91% considered the event to be good or excellent value. We have made further enhancements to the 2021 event program to ensure it is even more enjoyable.

So long as you are over 35 you can tee it up at the Masters. There are 15 tournament divisions based on age and handicap. Playing with golfers your own age and standard is one of the event’s great traditions.

The Asian Welfare and Cultural Association, Eastleigh Mela will take place on Sunday 29th August at the Leigh Road Recreation ground, 11 am – 6pm.

The Mela will showcase music and dance from around the world – China, Poland, India, Brazil and the Caribbean, as well as a Morris troupe, A rolling stones tribute band and the magic and energy of Bhangra.

Co-ordinating activities on that stage will be the ever-popular emcee Coco P.

The Mela, with its welcoming, friendly atmosphere is a true family festival, offering something for everyone to enjoy. Make it a date, Sunday 29th August, for you to celebrate Eastleigh’s cultural diversity.

Mohammed Mossadaq, the Mela co-ordinator said, “We are really looking forward to bringing the Mela back. I want to assure people that we will make every effort to make sure that the Mela is Covid compliant, and a safe outdoor event for all.”
